M1 is the only solution that is designed to support all waveform-generating platforms and to support all of the major manufacturers devices. In fact, M1 supports more Keysight/Agilent instruments than Keysight/Agilent's own software does, more Tektronix instruments than Tektronix's own software does, and so on. We call this "hardware abstraction."
M1's focus is to support your work and not to simply become an option to help sell a particular brand of hardware as the manufacturers' products are. M1 decouples the waveform functionality layer from the acquisition hardware and therefore provides major advantages to you such as flexibility in procurement, asset management and utilization within your organization and the ability to normalize and correlate your results even when they are from diverse waveform platforms.
ASA has never dropped support for any instrument that M1 supports, going all the way back to the early 1990s. We continue to support models long after the manufacturer discontinues support. This enables you to consider secondary markets for your technology replacement plans, and combined with M1's affordable licensing can provide significant savings on your capital expenses. Hardware abstraction also supports your goals to maximize uptime; you don't need to wait for a replacement for a dead instrument (assuming it's even still available for purchase) since any parametrically suitable instrument can be a replacement with M1.

Analysis, Exploration, Characterization, Debug, Compliance, and more in a single title
M1 provides a proven library of more than 400 measurements, decodes and compliance applications under a single product - more than all competing products combined. This approach ensures that you have 'what you need, when you need it'. Just in case, you can also easily define and create your own measurements, decodes, macros and automations. Any component that you define can then be deployed on any other M1 or M1 Reader systems within your organization.
The compliance test was invented at ASA, and transformed an 8-hour process into a 15-minute exercise. As essential components of the M1 Value Proposition, frameworks have been engineered into M1 enabling new tests to be added smoothly and quickly.
Characterization testing is an example of how M1 greatly streamlines your test procedures. M1's Characterization Manager enables you to easily gather in one place all of the parameters that you're interested in recording. The resulting table can be easily exported to common tools such as Excel.
Techniques with waveform exploration in the past have been extremely primitive, as manufacturers have stuck with a 1940s paradigm of using knobs to explore a waveform. M1 has created a new paradigm by replacing the knobs with many advanced exploration tools.
Another area where ASA is miles ahead is Embedded Intelligence. At startup, M1 automatically identifies your signals and opens appropriate measurements. And while you're trying to move fast, M1's patented Hidden Anomaly Location can locate and identify problems with your data on a 'proactive' basis before the problem finds you.

M1 accelerates your workflow with automation tools that include the ability to streamline repetitive measurement operations. Measurement sequencing is built-in with TestScript tools that can control data acquisition and testing against parameter limits. Instrument programming is supported and your customer ATE environment can call and control all M1 operations to simplify the development and support of complex automation testing.
Standard industry signal testing is supported by M1 and the most common applications are included with the engine at no additional cost. The manufacturers charge $1000s for each test on an "a la carte" basis (plus requiring other add-on applications to make that test work), meaning that you will save tens of thousands of dollars per platform by purchasing M1.
ASA provides unique debug support for automation testing with several tools that help you to quickly get to the bottom of a problem when your device is failing the spec's testing parameters.

ASA on the other hand has designed M1 to be more analogous to MS Excel - one title with all of the functionality, priced to be put on everyone's computer.
ASA's business model supports that vision by providing multiple pricing levels that are appropriate for a wide range of devices spanning multiple types of platform types. Campus and Enterprise-wide licensing models are also available that can place M1 on every waveform platform and PC. These models are demonstrably immediately self-funding through improvements in workflow and reduced procurement and training expenses.
